beautiful fool

In the vast beauty of this world

came along the vast emptiness.

Was it a vision that I saw?

When the sole thread ruptured

It all came crashing down.

Because I, too, have realised

Just like Gatsby once had, a long long time ago

on his blue lawn -

The high price of living a single dream.

A dream it was,

though it seemed so tangible, so real.

The poets adored the stars in June,

but I loved the autumn mornings with you.

Had my faith wrapped around a shimmering gift wrap,

I gave my best speeches to you.

Like a child, I watched you talk

Talk about the greatest mysteries

in human history.

Words uttered between your lips

built kingdoms that

were all beautiful, all flooded with gold.

They hunted for the deer and the rabbits,

the gentle creatures in the woods.

My apology for leaving all this behind.

I hope you find your beautiful fool.

In the vast beauty of this illusion,

came along the vast emptiness.

An alluring vision was all I saw,

When the wounded, exhausted thread was torn -

It all came crashing down.
